moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 65 -7
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A
TUNIOR COLLEGE IN NORTHWEST HENNEPIN COUNTY
WHEREAS, the State Legislature in 1963 enacted legislation establishing
a junior College Board and providing for junior Colleges in the Metropolitan
Area; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council of Brooklyn Center, at a council meeting
held in April of 1963, favored in principle the location of a junior College in
the Northwest Area of Hennepin County; and
WHEREAS, a committee has been working on a site location in Northwest
Hennepin County; and
WHEREAS, over 40,000 high school students will have need for a higher
education facility in this area; and
WHEREAS, the junior College Board held hearings in October of 1964 on
available site locations for junior Colleges; and
WHEREAS, the junior College Board will make its site recommendations
to the State Legislature on January 15, 1965.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: by the Village Council of the Village
of Brooklyn Center as follows:
1. The Village Council of Brooklyn Center believes that a junior College
should be located in Northwest Hennepin County.
2. The Village Council believes said college site should be located in
Brooklyn Park where land is currently available.
3. The Brooklyn Center Village Council requests that the junior College
Board further review the information pertaining to a college site in Northwest
Hennepin County, with primary emphasis upon that data which has been
developed since the conclusion of public hearings held by the Board.
4. A copy of this resolution shall be certified to the junior College
Board prior to the submission of the Board's recommK9gat'ons to the,Legislature.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded
by member John Leary and upon vote being taken thereon the
following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, Howard Heck, John Leary,
Phil Cohen and Earl Simons
and the following voted against the same: None;
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
