HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-026 CCR 'll Member Earl Simons introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -26 RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE ADOPTION OF HOUSE FILE NUMBER 488 PERTAINING TO THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT ASSOCIATION WHEREAS, House File #488 is a bill for an act which was introduced at the request of the PERA Board of Trustees and calls for an increase in the base of contributions for both the employer and employee to the total individual salary paid rather than the present individual maximum of $4,800; and WHEREAS, adoption of this bill would place a significant burden on both the employee and the employing governmental unit without granting comensurate benefit; and WHEREAS, said bill is only one of many introduced at the request of the PERA Board of Directors in an effort to stabilize the resources of the Association, all of which ignore the increased burden placed upon the employee and employer and offer no long range solution to the problems surrounding the resources of the Association; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1. The adoption of House File #488 is actively opposed and all representatives are called upon to work for the defeat of said bill. 2. Copies of this resolution shall be certified to the Governor of the State of Minnesota, the Chairman of the House Committee on Civil Administration and the representatives of the Thirtieth Legislative District. March 1, 1965 Date Mayor ATTEST: Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member phi-1 and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, Phil Cohen, john Leary, Howard Heck and Phil Cohen, and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
