HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-034 CCR Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -34 RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE ADOPTION OF SENATE FILE NUMBER 470 PERTAINING TO THE MANDATORY PUBLICATION OF COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS WHEREAS, there has been introduced in the Senate of theLegislature of the State of Minnesota a bill for an act designated Senate File Number 470 which proposes that the publication of the proceedings of the several Village Councils be made mandatory; and WHEREAS, although the Brooklyn Center Village Council supports the notion of developing an informed public, the provisions of the present bill would deny the Council the flexibility needed to adjust to an ever changing communication situation; and WHEREAS, the present bill, if adopted, would create needless duplication in the publication of legal notices, as well as impose a significant financial burden on the already over -taxed resources of the community NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1. That the adoption of Senate File Number 470 is 'actively opposed, and all members of the State Legislature are called upon to work against the adoption of the bill. 2. That copies of this resolution be certified to the Governor of the State of Minnesota, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Municipal Affairs, and to the Senator and Representatives of t Thirtieth Legislative District. March 15, 1965 Date Mayor ATTEST: Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Phil Cohen and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, Howard Heck, John Leary, Phil Cohen and Earl Simons, and the following voted against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
