HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-044 CCR Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution
and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 65 -44
RESOLUTION DENYING A REQUEST FOR VARIANCE
FROM REQUIREMENTS OF BUILDING CODE
WHEREAS, Automotive Sales Service, Inc. has requested a variance
from the requirements of the building code which require the installation of
an automatic fire extinguishing system; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council has reviewed this matter and heard
reports from the Village Administrator; and
WHEREAS, it has been reported that the primary reasons for the,
installation of automatic fire extinguishing systems are:
1. The minimizing of damage to a large structure so that the
business firm is not completely put out of business.
2. To restrict the size of the fire so the fire department has an
opportunity to enter the building and fight the fire.
3. Permit a reduction in the cost of construction of required fire
separations between occupancy uses within the building.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Village Council of
Brooklyn Center deny the request of Automotive Sales and Service, Inc.
for a variance to the provisions of the uniform building code requiring
automatic fire extinguishing systems.
