HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-048 CCR Member Howard Heck introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -48 RESOLUTION APPROVING BROOKDALE CENTER, STAGE 2 BUILDING PERMIT WHEREAS Dayton Development Company has applied for a Y p p Y pp building permit for the construction of Brookdale Center, Stage 2, and WHEREAS, the Uniform Building Code does not provide specifi- cations for the construction of Brookdale Center, Stage 2, and WHEREAS, the protection of life and property is provided by the following features in the design of Brookdale Center; 1. Adequate exits are provided through wide corridors leading from the "Mall" and through the tenant spaces abutting the Mall. 2. All spaces except the Mall are protected by an automatic fire extinguishing system. 3. The "Mall" areas will have installed in them rate of rise indicators for the detection of fire. 4. The rate of rise indicators and flow indicators on the sprinkler system are connected to an annunciator board which will be manned on a twenty -four hour basis. 5. A security patrolman will be on the premises on a twenty four hour basis. 6. The large Mall areas are two stories in height and will minimize the dangers from smoke and heat during evacua- tion if a fire occurs. 7. Tenant area separations extend all the way to the roof. 8. Hazardous areas are enclosed with two hour fire separa- tions. 9. Structural members of the "Mall" have one hour fire protection. RESOLUTION NO. 65 -48 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Village Council of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota determines that the protection of life and property has been adequately provided in the design of Brookdale Center and directs that a building permit be issued for the construction of Brookdale Center, Stage 2. April 12, 1965 Date Mayor ATTEST: Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Phil Cohen and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, Howard Heck, John Leary, Phil Cohen and Earl Simons, and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
