HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-075 CCR Member Earl Simons introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 65 -75 RESOLUTION AMENDING SECTION 35 -309 OF THE VILLAGE ORDINANCES WHEREAS, Section 35 -309 of the Village Ordinances was adopted by the Council on November 18, 1963 to restrain the construction of multiple dwellings upon residential lots pending the completion of the 701 Planning Study; and WHEREAS, the 701 Planning Study is not completed and the Planning Consultant has requested an extension of the time specified in Section 35 -309; and WHEREAS, the conditions set forth by the Council in the Resolution adopting Section 35 -309 are as serious today as they were when the Ordin- ance was adopted (one indication being the recent census showing a Village population in excess of 30, 000); and WHEREAS, the 701 Planning Study is now in the crucial phase of preparing zoning ordinances to deal with the problems related to multiple dwelling construction in residential areas; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED to waive the first reading of an Ordinance Amendment and pass the following Ordinance: ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 35 -309 OF THE VILLAGE ORDINANCES THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF BROOKLYN CENTER DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1; Section 35 -309 is hereby amended by deleting that portion reading a period of 18 months and substituting therefore the statement a period of 24 months Section 2: This Ordinance Amendment sh be ective from and after its legal publication. k Date: May 17, 1965 Mayor ATTEST: Clerk RESOLUTION NO. 65 -75 The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Howard Heck and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Gordon Erickson, Howard Heck, Phil Cohen and Earl Simons and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
