The June 5th meeting of the Industrial Development Commission was called to
order by Chairman, Robert 0slund at 8:05 P.M.
Roll Call.: Dallas Holms Frank eyers Dallas Lawrences Ernee McArthurs Charles
Nelsons Robert 0slunds Norman Qualeys Roger Machmeiers Harry Johnson, Robert Grosshanss
Earl Simons, Harlan Sweens Gerald Gerbers and Wayne Lubrecht,
Motion by Harlan Screen and seconded by Wayne Lubrecht to approve the minutes of the
April 10th meeting as recorded. Motion carried.
Lotion by Robert 0slund (with the correction that Frank Kampmeyer made the motion that
the reading of the minutes of the last meeting be dispensed with) that the minfts
of the May lst meeting be approved as recordeds Frank Kampmeyer seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
Cataloguing Committee furnished the membership with the information, of available land
for development. Photographs will be furnished in 30 days, to be placed in the
right hand corner.
Dallas Lawrence introduced the following resolution and moved its adoptions
f f it T the Industrial Development Cannission wishes to extend to Mr. Lee and
Re50LV E0, his staff our appreciation for their cooperation with the Cataloguing Committee
in coWiling and producing copies of the available land for development in
Brooklyn Center.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was dully seconded by member
Harlan Sween. Motion carried.
The Publicity Committee will ~e plans for a lay-out of a brochure on Brooklyn Center.
All members that have information or other brochures should give them to this committee.
Motion by Norman. Qualey and seconded by Harlan Sween that a Finance Committee be
established Ito determine hoer we can raise funds for the use of this Commission. Motion
carried. (Dallas Holm not voting)
Chairman$ Robert 0slunds appointed Norman Qua.ley chairman of the Finance Committees
additional members will be appointed at a later date.
Chairman= Robert 0slunds introduced Mr. William B, Farrell' Director of Business and
Industrial Services of the Department of Business Development- State of Minnesota.
Mr. Farrell stated their services are made up of five specific divisions: 1) Research
2) Commission Planning 3) Division of Trade Regulation 4) Tourist and Publicity
5) Business Development. They are effective in three ways 1) to aid and assist 2)
contacts with out of state industry 3) contacts with existing Minnesota industry.
Among the things that industry might be interested in are: geography, communitys
rail services highways., air services tool and dies personnels seers water., taxes,,
zonings planning, brain parer talent. It was suggested a brochure to 5 to 15 key
people would prove more effective than a mass mailings that we contact the State
Evl.oymmt Security Division for specific information on the labor situation in
Brooklyn Center. The Department of Business Development must have their questionaire
ccmpleteds names of people in community to contacts and the information be brought
up to date periodically to be effective in assisting a community in its development.

Motion by Dallas Lawrence and seconded by Norman Qualey that a committee be appointed
to make contacts and follow up possible leads to promote industry moving to Brooklyn
Center. Motion carried. The following members volunteered or were appointed:
Dallas Lawrence., Chairman' assisted by Robert Oslund., Charles Nelson., and Dallas Holm,
(Robert Oslund and Dallas Holm accepted under protest)

Motion was made., seconded and carried that the meeting be adjourned, The meeting
was adjourned at 10:45 P.M,
