The July 10th meeting of the Industrial Development Commission
was called to order b3' Chairman, Robert oslund at 8:05 PM.
Roll Call: Dallas Holm, Dallas Lawrence., Ernee McArthurs Robert
oslund,, Earl Simons, Gerald Gerber and Wayne Inbrecht,
Motion by Dallas Holm and seconded by Gerald Gerber to approve
the minutes of the June 5th meeting as recorded. Lotion carried,
Robert oslund reported on a meeting attend by he and Mr, Lee,
scheduled by a group of Minnesota Corporations. The purpose of the
meeting was to discuss ways and means of acquiring a better tax base
for the state of Minnesota,, so as to better/industry moving here,
interest
Mr, Lee reported., the final report of Brooklyn Centerts Urban
Community Development Plan is now at the printers., and we will be
receiving copies shortly.
Robert oslund, Chairman, will be scheduling$ at one of our
next meeting, work to be done to establish by-laws fort Commission,
Motion by Dallas Lawrence and seconded by Dallas Holm that the
meeting be adjourned, The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 P.M.

The August 7th meeting of the Industrial Development Commission was
called to order by Chairman, Robert Oslund at 8:05 P.M.
Roll Call: Dallas Holm, Dallas Lawrence, Ernee McArthur, Charles
Nelson, Robert Oslund, Roger Machmsier, Marl Simons, Harlan Swoon,
Gerald Gerber, and Wayne Lubrecht.
Motion by Gerald Gerber and seconded by Wayne Lubrecht to approve
the minutes of the July 10th meeting as recorded. Motion carried,
Gerald Gerber gave a Publicity Committee report as follows:
1) Press releases-thane been submitted to the Brooklyn Center
Press, Minneapolis Star & Tribune, and the North Star News.
2) With Commission approval, they would like to send a letter
enclosing the Community Fact Survey, as printed by NSP, to
interested parties.
3) Possibly place ads in Wall Street Journal and others.
4) They are gathering information on brochures.
Motion by Gerald Gerber and seconded by Harlan Swoon that the
Publicity Committee forward letters, enclosing the Community
Pact Survey, to our Congressmen, lending agencies and interested
parties. Motion carried,
. There was much discussion in regard to present land prices in Brooklyn
Center. In connection wth this, Roger Machmeier brought to the
attention of the Commission,,a recent article in the July's Baader's
Digest entitled "Land Speculation, and Now to Sbp It."
Motion by Gerald Gerber and seconded by Zaar1 Simons that John
Nordberg, village assessor, be invited to appear before this
Commission, to discuss taxation methods. Motion Carried.
. Mr. Lee presented copies of "Brooklyn Center Urban Community" to the members of
Chairman, Robert Oslund, requested that Gerald Gerber contact this Commission.
Dayton's to arrange a showing of the "Brooklyn Center Urban
Community Model", when it becomes available to us. It was suggested
that members of this Commission might be present at certain times
to explain to the public the details of the plan.
Motion by Charles Nelson and seconded by Earl Simons that the
meeting be adjourned. The meeting was adjourned at 9:40 P.M.
The next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 4th.
