BROOKLYN CENTER
The September 44th meeting of the Industrial Development C sion
was called to order by Chairmen., Robert 0slund at 8:05 FM.
Roll Call: Dallas Lawrence., Ernee McArthur., Robert 0slund., Roger Machmeier.,
Robert Grosshans'$ Charles Nelso4Wayne Ldbrecht* Gerald Gerber
Motion by Gehl Gerber and seconded by Charles Nelson to approve the minutes
of the August 7th meeting as recorded. Motion carried,
Approval of the August 22nd special meeting minutes were deferred until
our Octaber.;regular meeting.
Martin Poland: of Northern States Power Company presented a film on
industrial -4velopment , . 0 "Planning For Prosperity." The film
portrayed a fictional-»ghost, town., which had not planned for industry.
Mr. Poland pointed out the keen competition involved in industrial
development., not only the markets in this country but that foreign
markets are also competing.
Mr. John Nordberg., village assessor, was asked to speak on his philosophy
of taxation., and he proceeded to explain how tax values are set in Brooklyn.
Center. There was discussion in regard to certain land in Brooklyn Center
priced at approximately 40.,000 an acre. He plans to review his records
with the Industrial Dwelopmertt Com Lission. A question and answer period followed.
Mary Jane Gustafson from the Brooklyn Center Press was present at this
meeting., and theta appeared in the September 13, 1962 Brooklyn Center Press
a news release., prepared by the publicity committee., in regard to this
Septmber 4th meeting.
-lotion by Charles Nelson and seconded by Wayne Lubrecht that the meeting be
adjourned. The meeting was adjourned at 10;15 FM.
