HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-023 EDAR1 Commissioner Kathleen Carmody introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: EDA RESOLUTION NO. 97 -23 RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR FINAL PHASE OF ASBESTOS ABATEMENT IN RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES FOR 53RD AVENUE DEVELOPMENT AND LINKAGE PROJECT WHEREAS, the Economic Development Authority in and for the City of Brooklyn Center (EDA) has acquired the following properties as part of the 53rd Avenue Development and Linkage Project: Property Address EDA Resolution No. 5311 -4th Street North 96 -33 5315 -4th Street North 97 -03 600 -53rd Avenue North 97 -03 610 -53rd Avenue North 97 -04 620 -53rd Avenue North 97 -04 710 -53rd Avenue North 97 -10 722 -53rd Avenue North 97 -03 802 -53rd Avenue North 97 -04 810 -53rd Avenue North 97 -03 814 -53rd Avenue North 97 -03 822 -53rd Avenue North 97 -06 5306 Camden Avenue North 97 -03 5307 Camden Avenue North 96 -33 5318 Camden Avenue North 97 -03 WHEREAS, it is necessary for the EDA to abate asbestos containing materials in the above residential structures as part of the 53rd Avenue Development and Linkage Project prior to demolition; and WHEREAS, Legend Technical Services, the EDA's technical consultant, has completed plans and specifications for asbestos abatement in the above listed properties. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Economic Development Authority in and for the City of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1. The plans and specifications prepared by Legend Technical Services for asbestos abatement are hereby approved and ordered filed with the City Clerk. 2. The City Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in the official newspaper an advertisement for bids for the project in accordance with the approved plans and 1 1 EDA RESOLUTION NO. 97 -23 specifications. The advertisement shall be published in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, shall specify the work to be done, and shall state the time and location at which bids shall be opened by the City Clerk and the EDA Executive Director or their designees. Any bidder whose responsibility is questioned during the consideration of the bid will be given the opportunity to address the EDA Board on the issue of responsibility. No bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk and accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond, or certified check payable to the City of Brooklyn Center EDA for five percent (5 of the amount of such bid. August 11, 1497 Date President The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by commissioner Kay Lasman and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Myrna Kragness, Kathleen Carmody, Debra Hilstrom, Kay Lasman, and Robert Peppe; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
