HomeMy WebLinkAbout2024.02.20 PRCMMINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER IN THE COUNTY OF HENNEPIN AND THE STATE OF MINNESOTA REGULAR SESSION FEBRUARY 20, 2024 CALL TO ORDER Chair Jeffrey called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. ROLL CALL Chair Jeffrey, Vice Chair Bonovsky, Commissioners Sorenson, and Younglove, were present. Also present were Parks & Recreation Director Cordell Wiseman, Parks & Recreation Deputy Director Carissa Goebel, Centerbrook Golf Course Superintendent Steve Makowske and Community Center Supervisor Rachel Kenyon. Councilmember Butler and Commissioners Ebert and Branch were not present. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Commissioner Sorenson moved to approve the agenda. Commissioner Bonovsky seconded the motion. The agenda was approved unanimously. APPROVAL OF JANUARY MINUTES Commissioner Sorenson moved to approve the minutes. Commissioner Bonovsky seconded the motion. The minutes were approved unanimously. CITY COUNCIL LIAISON REPORT Councilmember Butler sent an email update. CENTERBROOK GOLF COURSE PRESENTATION Superintendent Makowske gave an overview on Centerbrook Golf Course. He touched on what they do, who they serve, features of the course, and budget information. He also discussed upcoming plans for other future activities that could be done at the golf course. SHINGLE CREEK CLEAN-UP 2024 Deputy Director Goebel gave the date of April 20th for this year’s Shingle Creek Clean-Up. Supplies are provided by the City and it can also be accessed for park clean-ups at any time. Commissioner Sorenson moved to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Younglove seconded. The decision was unanimous. FUTURE MEETING The next meeting will be on March 19th, 2024 at 6:30pm at the Community Center.
