EARLE BROWN FARM COMMITTEE MEETING
CALL TO ORDER
The Earle Brown Farm Committee was called to order at 6:50 p.m.
by Chairman Orn.
ROLL CALL
Dr. Orn, Warren Lindquist and Phil Cohen. Also present were EDA
Coordinator Brad Hoffman and Administrative Aide Patti Page.
EDA Coordinator Hoffman indicated Mary Jane Gustafson and Sylvia
Kenney had contacted him and would not be present at this
evenings meeting. He noted they concurred with his
recommendation.
EARLE BROWN FARM UPDATE
The EDA Coordinated briefly updated the committee on the progress
of the farm. He explained that after the contractors reviewed
the blacksmith shop it was recommended that it be demolished and
replicated. He stated the original plan was to move the building
on site and use as much of the original building as possible. He
noted it appears that only the framing is worth using and some of
that would need to be reinforced.
The EDA Coordinated stated by replicating this building the
project would gain a far superior building with more leasable
space. He noted it would cost approximately $8,000 less to
demolish and replicate. He noted some of the visible interior
items would be saved.
There was a motion by Cohen and seconded by Lindquist to
recommend to the City Council that the blacksmith shop be
demolished and a new building replicated on-site. The motion
passed.
ADJOURNMENT
There was a motion by Lindquist and seconded by Cohen to adjourn
the meeting. The motion passed. The Earle Brown Farm Committee
adjourned at 6:59 p.m.
