Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held
on the 14th day of April, 2003, at 7 p.m. or as soon there-
after as the matter may be heard at the City Hall,; 6301
Shingle Creek Parkway, to consider an ordinance repeal-
ing Chapter 21 of the City Ordinances of the City of Brook-
lyn Center and adopting a new ordinance regarding taxi-
cabs.
Auxiliary aids for persons with disabilities are available
upon request at least 96 hours in advance. Please contact

ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING CHAPTER 21 OF THE
CITY ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN
CENTER AND ADOPTING A NEW ORDINANCE RE-
GARDING TAXICABS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN
CENTER DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 21, Public Transportation, of the City
Ordinances of the City of Brooklyn Center is hereby re-
pealed in its entirety.
Section 2. Chapter 23, General Licensing Regulations, of
the City Ordinances of the City of Brooklyn Center is here-
by amended by adding the following new sections:

Section 23 -702. TAXICAB LICENSE REQUIRED

No person shall operate a taxicab within the City of Brook-

without complying with the reouirements of said issuing
authority (and providing proof thereof) regarding driver
qualifications. insurance. vehicle safety and vehicle in-

Section 23 -703. TAXICAB DRIVER'S LICENSE RE-
QUIRED.

No person shall drive a taxicab within the City of Brook-
lyn Center without possessing a valid taxicab driver's li-
cense duly issued by the Metropolitan Airports Commis-
sion.
Section 23 -704. DESIGNATION.
Each taxicab required to be licensed by this Section shall
