Auxiliary aids for persons with disabilities are available upon request at least 96 hours in advance. Please contact the City Clerk at 763 -569 -3300 to make arrangements. ATTEST: CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER ORDINANCE NO. 2001 -14 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE FEEDING OF DEER THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 1 of the Brooklyn Center City Ordinances is hereby amended to renumber section 1 -120 as Section 1 -300. Section 2. Chapter 1 of the Brooklyn Center City Ordinances is hereby amended to add the following section. Section 1 -200. FEEDING OF DEER PROHIBITED. No person may place, or permit to be placed on the ground or within four (4) feet of the ground surface, any grain, fruit, nuts, fodder, salt licks, or any other food, including feed for birds, which may reasonably be expected to result in deer feeding, unless such items are screened or protected in a manner that prevents deer from feeding on them, except as follows: 1. Feeding programs or efforts undertaken by the City in accordance with its deer management plan; 2. Veterinarians, City animal control officers, or county, state or federal game officials who, in the course of their duties, have deer in their custody; or 3. Any food placed upon the property for the purpose of trapping or otherwise taking deer where such trapping or taking is pursuant to a permit issued by the Department of Natural Resources; 4. Planting of seeds or plants for the purpose of establishing or maintaining a lawn or garden, covering gardens or plants with straw for the purpose of providing protection during winter months or when establishing new lawns, or using straw bales for erosion control. Section 3. This ordinance shall be effective after adoption and thirty days following its legal publication. Adopted this 24th day of September 2001.
