Meeting minutes
May 4, 1987
City Council Chambers
Those Present: LAKOTAS, DOTH, WEISBECK, ALFORD, SLUPSKE, LACROSSE,
COOK, CHRISTENSON, VREELAND, QUENROE, NELSON, COHEN, AND BARONE.
Call to Order: Meeting was called to order by Chairman Q UENROE at 7:30
a. m.
FINANCIAL REPORT: $13,635.15 in savings as of May 1, 1987.
MINUTES APPROVAL: Two noted corrections from April 27, 1987, meeting.
BI-CENTENNIAL UPDATE: LAKO TAS proposed a budget for approval of
$1000.00 for committee expenses. This will cover postage, printing, and
labels. They will be selling the commemorative key chains as a
fundsraiser. Motion by Slupske, second by Cook to approve the committee
ordering 500 key chains. Motion passed.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
• AMBASSADORS/COHEN: Reported on the contents of sales kits. Budget
increase request from $159.00 to $259.00. Motion by Christenson, second
by Slupske to increase by $100.00. Motion passed. Kick off is May 7,
1987.
CARNIVAL/SLUPSKE: Cost of NSP is appro. $3000.00 - QUENROE and
SLUPSKE will work this out.
HOT AIR BALLOOONS/SLUPSKE: All 15 balloons are confirmed and
contract will be signed this week. Alternative dates are listed in
contract.
HELICOPTER RIDES/ QUENROE: Out for 1987 events.
CAR SHOW/SLUPSKE: All set with flyers being made to distribute.
PARADE/NERBURN: Nine concessions have been approved to date. Unit
sign ups are ahead of schedule. Cut off will be 150 units.
HONARARY MARSHALL/QUENROE: Motion by Vreeland, second by Nelson
to have Mr. Gaylen Halter, retiring North Jr. High principal, serve as local
Marshall. Motion passed.
CIRCUS/SLUPSKE: Passed around circus poster and BARONE distributed
the Mechanical System Permit Fees along with a resolution declaring Earle
is Brown Activities as a civic event, May 29 to Oct. 1, 1987.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL/ESSAY CONTEST /TREASURE HUNT/WEISBECK: Brookdale
will handle these three events. $100 gift certificate for Treasure Hunt
winner, and bonds for Essay contest winners.

SENIOR CORONATION/DOTH: Slow for nominations. Listed in Dist.
#281 Senior Service Newsletter. Put in church bulletin with June 1 cut off.
June 17 is coronation and dance.
PARK AND REC./LACROSSE: A proposal for 1988 Entertainment in the
Park was reviewed and suggestions made. MN ZOO will be at the Park June
28 from 1 to 5 p.m. Motion by Doth, second by Christenson to pick up
$150.00 cost for ZOO. Motion passed.
RENS. FESTIVAL/COOK: Look to this event in 1988. Cost is appr.
$700.00
MN STICKERS/COOK: Look to this event in 1988 also.
AUCTION/SLUPSKE: Will be held during Carnival on June 7, 2:00 p.m.
Held in vacant lot by Shingle Creek Office Plaza. Auctioneer takes 10% off
top. Need coordinator.
PUBLICITY/CHRISTENSON: Certificate of Appreciation awards for EB
Ambassador donors will be handled by CHRISTENSON. VREELAND will work
with Post on Tabloid.
