Meeting Minutes
March 21, 1988
City Hall
Those present: Quenroe, Nerburn, Roen, Countryman, Vreeland, Cook,
Nelson, Nyquist, Barone, Lakotas, Cohen, Slupske, LaCrosse,-Christensen,
and Jerry Coughlin, Insurance agent.
Qu1enroe recognized the committee and board members for their hard work
for Earle Brown Days in 1987 and passed out a gift to everyone.
Minutes of the March 7 meeting were approved.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Nelson passed out the 1988 proposed budget.
• AMBASSADORS: Everything will be ready to present to the board at the
next meeting. Ambassadors will also work on auction. The auction
would need 100-125 items, with no envelopes nor gift certificates.
PUBLICITY: Cook reported his board has designated $5,000 to promote
Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park and Fridley's festivals. He proposed
a full page ad run in the Star Tribune using the full $5,000. The ad
would be subject to approval by EBD board. A motion was passed to
accept Cook's recommendation.
Christensen presented a sample of a logo to be used consistently each
year. The year would be added to logo for button.
NEW BUSINESS-INSURANCE: Jerry Coughlin, insurance agent for City and
EBD,'reported ours is an event policy. All events have to be on policy
in order to be insured.
TABLOID: Vreeland will research to see if we can either make money
or break even with a nicer looking tabloid.
LaCrosse suggested we look into taking a full page ad out in Post for
the carnival. Tabloid would then be distributed week before EBD.

CARNIVAL: Certificate of insurance is here. Slupske needs to send
letter to secure space and to get NSP to provide power. He will continue
working on getting dates closer to EBD dates.
PARADE: Everything's going well and ahead of last year. The parade
committee will charge a $25 fee for concessionaires plus the $30 City
license fee. Everyone wishing to sell will go through Nerburn.
Countryman presented Nerburn with a check for $1,000 from Lions Club
for parade.
CAR SHOW: Cost is $750. Motion was passed to go ahead with it even
if a sponsor is not found.
JOB DESCRIPTIONS: Quenroe reminded everyone about writing their job
descriptions.
NEXT MEETING: Scheduled for Monday, April 4 at 7:30 a.m. at City Hall.
