HomeMy WebLinkAbout1988 04-04 EBDMd b ~ 1 iiEilkillkEarle Brown Days Brooklyn Center Minnesota i 6301 Shingle Creek Parkway 55430 (612) 561-5440 Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes April 4, 1988 City Hall Those present: Quenr.oe, Thor.ud, Nelson,Countryman, Dorff, Alford, Nyquist, Cohen, Vreeland, Roen, LaCrosse, Judy Berglund and Steve Graffunder. FINANCIAL REPORT: Nelson handed out copies of the budget. The budget was approved as is. NEW BUSINESS: Nyquist introduced Steve Graffunder who represents the reactivated Brooklyn Center Jaycees. Graffunder said there are 22 members. OLD BUSINESS: Quenr.oe recognized and thanked Alford, Thorud and Dorff for their hard work in 187. BUTTON SALES/MEMORABILIA: Dorff passed out a design with Earle Brown on horseback. Motion approved to go with his design. Another motion was passed to allow Henry to decide on one of two options: 1. Sell button for$1 with discount coupons only or. 2. Sell button for. $1 with discount coupons and prize money. Dorff will report his decision at next meeting. AMBASSADORS: Cohen handed out 1987 budget and the 1988 proposal. He will have letter drafted by next meeting. Cohen wants everyone to let him know if they are planning to contact any businesses for donations. Er.nee will meet with auto dealers. A special breakfast is proposed for them. NEW BUSINESS - cont: Quenr.oe introduced Judith Berglund, who is inter- ested in becoming a board member. She is interested in either a one or two year term, and her background includes convention experience. Steve Graffunder is also interested in becoming a board member-. He is a long time Brooklyn Center resident and works in Nyquist's office. The Board of Directors will meet at 7:15 a.m., before the regular meeting to vote on this matter. SEARCH FOR VICE-CHAIRMAN REPORT: Nelson recommends that someone currently on the Earle Brown Days board or committee be considered for next ear's chairman. He thinks it would be too difficult to have someone chair that has never- been involved with Earle Brown Days. A COMMITTEE REPORTS: JUNIOR ROYALTY: Thorud submitted a budget with $600 in expenses The budget was approved TABLOID: Vreeland will meet with-person from post and report back at next meeting. The tabloid will go out the week before Earle Brown Days. PARK & REC: The senior clubs will sponsor Bingo on Saturday, June 25 at the community center. If they make a nice profit, they will make a donation to Earle Brown Days. NEW BUSINESS - cont: Quenroe highlighted the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, April 23 at the Holiday Inn. Places can be reserved with Dennis Morrow at Brooklyn Center High School or the Mayor's office. A sponsor pays $100 and gets eight complimentary tickets.
