APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes of April 18 were approved. FINANCIAL REPORT: Nelson reported a balance of 16,407.54 as of 3/31/88 Budget approved. BUTTON SALES/MEMORABILIA: Dorff passed out button samples and the sample coupon sheets. The words, after ordering, will be taken off and the words, no purchase necessary, will be added to coupon sheet. • The cowboy hats will sell for $1.50 and the caps $4.00. Dorff will talk to Countryman and Roen about Canvasing the business Community. Shirley and Leonard Jones will take care of Brookdale after Dorff clears this with the Merchant's association. The committee complimented Dorff on the outstanding job he has done. AMBASSADORS: Quenroe passed out a letter on behalf of Cohen which with Board approval,, will be sent to businesses. With a few corrections, the board approved. TABLOID: Quenroe announced there will be a photographer at the next meeting, May 16. All board members and committee chairs, please attend this meeting. Picture will be used for tabloid. Mary Jane Gustafson will write some articles for tabloid. Vreeland and LaCrosse will meet with her to discuss what should be included. PARK & RECREATION: LaCrosse said the Holiday Inn contacted Park & Rec. They want to sponsor the fun run. One of their staff people would like to attend Earle Brown Days meetings next year. They would like to get more involved next year.. PUBLICITY: Dorff reported the Earle Brown Days cable show. It will • be aired in Brooklyn Center the week prior to carnival and one week prior to Earle Brown Days. VICE-CHAIRMAN REPORT: Nelson reported Alford has agreed to be vice- chair for the remainder of this year and co-chair next year. Nelson made a motion to this effect and Graffunder seconded. Motion passed. NEW BUSINESS: Corrections to committee lists: R.H. (Bob) Quenroe 347-9540 (w) Phil Cohen 370-3391 (w) Judith Berglund change to Judith Bergeland MINNESOTA ZOO: Bergeland reported Brooklyn Center residents would receive a 20% discount. She didn't see it as being advantageous to • us because it would be taking people out of Brooklyn Center. Committee decided not to do it. TABLOID continued: Vreeland entered meeting at this point. She rec- commended we let post do it. We get final approval of layout. Mary Jane will write some articles. Topic suggestions include why we have Earle Brown Days and why Earle Brown is on horseback. NEXT MEETING: Scheduled Monday, May 16 at 7:30 am at City Hall.
