Meeting Minutes
May 16, 1988
City Hall
Those present: Quenroe, Cohen, Slupske, Nerburn, Dorff, Vreeland,
Alford, Nyquist, Countryman, Roen,Thorud, Bergeland, LaCrosse and
Lisa Kaehler from Brookdale.
CORRECTION TO MINUTES: Alford is vice chair for '88 and chair for
'89 Earle Brown Days.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes of May 2 were approved with above
correction.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Alford reported a balance of 13,894.03 as of
. 4/16/88/
BUTTON SALES/MEMORABILIA: Buttons will be given to Ambassadors and
Jackie Albright will coordinate distribution of the house to house
sales. Lisa Kaehler of Brookdale said the buttons could be sold in
the mall but other memorabilia can only be sold at the ice cream
social.
AMBASSADORS: Cohen wants to have a breakfast meeting for auto dealers.
He asked, if the auto dealer (s) made a minimum set donation, could
they get a free admission to auto show and a banner in parade. Answer-
yes.
The ambassadors met and are going.
Alford will be the main contact person for auction but Cohen needs
lots of other help.
INSURANCE: LaCrosse and Jerry Coughlin, representing the City insurance
co., talked about slight problems with carnival and car insurance.
Slupske will make sure carnival adds Winfield Properties to their
policy and Nerburn will make sure car organization adds Earle Brown
Days, City of Brooklyn Center, and Westbrook Mall as additional
insured.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Kaehler will make a schedule and bring to next
meeting.
JUNIOR ROYALTY: Thorud needs help. Call her if you or someone you
know can help with phone calls, the reception, guiding children, or
know a pianist. Phil will. MC or find someone that can. Thorud also
. Is someone that can. Thorud also needs judges. The criteria is
they must live outside Brooklyn Center, wouldn't know the children
and can judge on Saturday, June 18, 1-4 and Tuesday, June 21, 6-8.
TABLOID: Earle Brown Days will not be promoted in the Twin City
Clipper this year. Denny will begin earlier next year. Vreeland and
LaCrosse will meet with Post rep this week. Vreeland will contact
Lonnie McCauley of the North Hennepin Chamber to see what they do.
Mary Jane gave us material for editorial pages if we choose to use.
PERMANENT LOCATION REPORT: Quenroe met with Doug Rossi, Superintendent
of Brooklyn Center School District to discuss possibility of using
Brooklyn Center High School parking lot. He will bring up to school
board.
NEW BUSINESS:
ADMINISTRATIVE PERMITS AND SIGNS: Quenroe reminded event chairs to
apply in planning dept. for administrative and/or sign permits.
The carnival, parade, car show, and auction probably need them.
FESTIVAL SEMINAR: There will be a festival seminar on June 7 and 8 in •
St. Cloud. Motion made by Countryman, seconded by Nyquist to send
Alford. Amended to pay for overnight accomodations. Motion passed.
NEXT MEETING: Scheduled for Tuesday, May 31 at 7:30 a.m. at City Hall.
