Earle Brown Days Meeting
Meeting Minutes
August 8, 1988
City Hall
Those present: Quenroe, Nelson Alford, Countryman, Breviu, Slupske,
Graffunder, Mavis, Bergelund, Roen, Nyquist, Cohen, Splinter and
LaCrosse.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes from June 20 were approved.
COMMERCIAL: Breviu said we should allow at least one month lead time
to put together commercial. Slupske requested two scripts. Quenroe
suggested starting in February with a small sub-committee working on
it.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Balance of $10,532.36 as of 8/4/88. Budget %as
approved.
• BUTTON SALES/MEMORABILIA- Alford reported the door to door sales were
not very successful. Sold approximately 1400 buttons Cohen reported
for Dorff a profit of 650.
PARADE- Slupske suggested budgeting more for publicity and more to
attract high quality units. Quenroe said we should have a uniform
concessions policy that all EBD committee members would know about.
Gaps in parade are formed by the units themselves. Possible solution
is to require all units to go forward. Also, because of the near
accident involving the throwing of candy, a statement prohibiting such
will be included in information sent.
CARNIVAL- Hot weather was a major factor in low attendance. However,
it needs to be centrally located and dates need to be moved to Earle
Brown Days dates. A sub committee, made up of Cohen, Splinter, Slupske,
Mavis and LaCrosse, will study other communities' carnivals. They
will make recommendations at the Oct. 3 meeting. Slupske will chair
'89 committe if there's a carnival.
AUCTION- Need to get the right type of merchandise, no gift certificates,
by February or March. Could be a money maker. Bergeland will chair a
study to determine interest and amount of work involved. She will make
a report on October 3.
AMBASSADORS- $10,450.98 brought in to date. An additional $1300 is
expected from car dealers. Cohen reported they didn't have quite the
0 success as in the past. Alford said thank you letters should go out
to the volunteers and the businesses that contributed. Cohen will not
chair next year but will help someone get started.
SENIOR ROYALTY- Out for '89
JUNIOR ROYALTY- very successful, concentrate more effort into this.
