RESOLUTION NO. 2026-069
RESOLUTION EXPRESSING RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION FOR THE
DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE OF POLICE DETECTIVE BRETT VESEY
WHEREAS, Detective Brett Vesey was hired as a part-time Community Service
Officer by the City of Brooklyn Center on August 5, 2003; and
WHEREAS, Detective Brett Vesey was hired as a full-time police officer by the
City of Brooklyn Center on September 30, 2007; and
WHEREAS, during his lengthy tenure with the Brooklyn Center Police
Department, Detective Brett Vesey served as a patrol officer, Street Crimes Unit officer, SWAT
team member, field training officer, and detective; and
WHEREAS, Detective Brett Vesey began serving as a police detective on
November 2, 2015, and his experience, high standards, attention to detail, and strong professional
network have had a significant impact on the quality of the department's investigative work; and
WHEREAS, Detective Brett Vesey's contributions extended far beyond his
detective work, including his key role in upgrading, expanding, equipping, and maintaining the
department's vehicle fleet, helping establish a high-quality and well-equipped fleet that has
benefited the department for many years; and
WHEREAS, Detective Brett Vesey has received numerous commendations and
letters of appreciation from residents and others in recognition of his service and assistance; and
WHEREAS, Detective Brett Vesey has consistently set high standards for
professionalism, preparation, attention to detail, and pride in the department's equipment and
work, standards that will continue to benefit the Brooklyn Center Police Department into the
future; and
WHEREAS, Detective Brett Vesey served the City of Brooklyn Center with
distinction until his departure on July 11, 2026; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that the City Council recognizes the honorable and dedicated service
of Detective Brett Vesey and expresses its sincere appreciation for his commitment to the Brooklyn
Center community, the Brooklyn Center Police Depmiment, and public service. The City Council
extends its best wishes to Brett and his family in the future.
