APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes from March 27 were approved. FINANCIAL REPORT: Cash on hand $3,258.80 as of 4/20/89 PUBLICITY: It was suggested to put up the three banners at Brookdale Crossing, Brookdale at Shingle Creek Pkwy. entrance and inside Brookdale. It will read: Brooklyn Center • Earle Brown Days June 21 - 25 AMBASSADORS: Committee revised letter to businesses. Cohen wants to include a schedule of events with letter. Cohen will get a sub- committee together to contact businesses. CELEBRATE MINNESOTA 1990 - Brooklyn Center will become a Celebrate Minnesota 1990 community. The City will purchase 13 signs for highways depicting us as a Celebrate Minnesota community. PUBLICITY cont.: It was recommended to have the cable ad run once a day during prime time. LaCrosse will check to see how many spots we can get with the money budgeted. Bergeland reported about a tour company that will let you promote your event on their tours. The representative would need to dress as a character, ex. Earle Brown, and can then talk about and pass out info about event. Committee decided not to do it unless Gil Engdahl wanted to do it. CARNIVAL: Flyers need to be distributed to residents around the community center informing them of the activities in central Park. Alford will talk to Slupske.. PARADE: Lions and Rotary will each donate $1,000. BUTTONS/ MEMORABILIA: Dorff will order 1500 buttons, 500 of which will be given away. He will possibly use the marchers off the parade form for button cjesign. Dorff would like_to get abort a half dozen coupons. BUTTONS/MEM CONT... Graham could use 250 to sell at junior..royalty because admission fee is a button. AUCTION: Bergeland handed out a contract proposal for the auction company. With a few minor changes, the committee approved it. JUNIOR ROYALTY: Graham reported over 25 applicants, mostly girls. She is going to put up publicity posters at civic- center and library. TABLOID: There will be three pages of editorial space. Deadline for editorial info is first week in June. Tierny will try to get a photo- grapher to attend Earle Brown days meeting on May 22 to take a picture of committee for Tabloid. Please try to attend. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Master of ceremonies will be Nyquistor Cohen. Kahler is looking for a new twist to jazz up program, possibly booking Bob the Beachcomber as an attraction for kids. Ice cream social to begin around 7:30 p.m. NEW BUSINESS: Parkina lots must be cleaned every night after carnival. LaCrosse will check out availability of swim club at approximately $150/night. Committee should think about a date change for 1990. There's a chance Tater Daze will be changing their dates and then we would be in direct conflict. LaCrosse is trying to get the Minnesota Orchestra for the 1990 Sunday In Central Park. NEXT MEETING: Monday, May 22, 7:30 a.m. City Hall Council Chambers.
