CHAIRPERSONS REPORT
Chairperson Landis noted that he would forego his Chair's report in lieu of moving directly to the
discussion of the 2030 Comprehensive Plan draft.
Chairperson Landis recognized Mr. Brett Hildreth who introduced himself noting that he was a
former Brooklyn Center resident and owns rental property in the city. Mr. Hildreth was at the
meeting to review the Lyndale area between 53 and 57' with regard to the 2030 Comprehensive
Plan. Mr. Hildreth expressed support for the language in the 2020 Comprehensive Plan which
addressed the potential for redevelopment along Lyndale between 53 and 57' and stated that he
would like to see this area recognized in a similar fashion in the 2030 Comprehensive Plan.
Commission Members reviewed various elements of the 2030 Comprehensive Plan draft including
Figure 2.1 Planning Issues which shows the 57` Avenue area between Logan and the river and

some of the 2020 Comprehensive Plan language did not carry over to the 2030 Comprehensive Plan
and that the Lyndale Avenue area does not really show up at all in the text. He pointed out that
Figure 2-2, the land use plan, does not highlight the Lyndale area at all and that Page 2-9 in the 2030
draft plan does mention redevelopment of properties along Lyndale capitalizing on views of the
Mississippi River but not to the extent of the 2020 Comprehensive Plan.
Mr. Hildreth reviewed the 50 year plan prepared by the City of Minneapolis titled ,"Above the
Falls", which includes land along the west bank of the Mississippi River extending from
downtown to 43 Avenue North.
Chairperson Landis thanked Mr. Hildreth for his information and added that he would give
consideration to Mr. Hildreth's input and suggestions with regard to the 2030 Comprehensive
Plan.
