HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-100 CCRMember Kay Lasman introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2008-100 RESOLUTION APPROVING A PRELIMINARY TAX CAPACITY LEVY FOR THE GENERAL FUND AND DEBT SERVICE FUNDS AND A MARKET VALUE TAX LEVY FOR THE HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY FOR PROPERTY TAXES PAYABLE IN 2009 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center is the governing body of the City of Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes require that the preliminary property tax levy for property taxes payable in 2009 be provided to the Hennepin County Auditor no later than September 15, 2008. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that a tax is hereby levied on all taxable real and personal property within the City of Brooklyn Center for the purpose and sums as follows: General Fund - Tax Capacity Based General Tax Limited Levy $ 6,593,550 Special Levy for Police and Fire Wages & Benefits 5,085,466 Special Levy for Foreclosure Costs 125.000 Subtotal for General Fund Levies $ 11,804,016 Debt Service - Market Value Based 2004 A-Police & Fire Building Refunding Bonds $ 703,903 Housins and Redevelopment Authoritv HRA Tax Levy $ 385.289 Total Levy S 12.893.208 Cr Li September 8. 2008 Date Mayor ATTEST: City Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Mark Yelich and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Tim Willson, Kay Lasman, Dan Ryan, and Mark Yelich; and the following voted against the same: Mary O' Conner; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
