HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007-079 CCRMember and moved its adoption: Mark Yelich RESOLUTION NO. 2007-79 introduced the following resolution RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF BROOKLYN CENTER TO ENTER INTO A JOINT AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF BROOKLYN PARK AND POLICE EXECUTIVE RESEARCH FORUM TO CONDUCT A STUDY ON VIOLENT CRIME TO DELIVER A COMPREHENSIVE CRIME-REDUCTION STRATEGY FOR BROOKLYN CENTER AND BROOKLYN PARK WHEREAS, the Cities of Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center have experienced significant increases in violent crimes; and WHEREAS, both cities desire to reduce said crime and the effects thereof within the communities; and WHEREAS, it is recognized that an effective strategy to reduce crime requires a comprehensive approach based on data, information, and analysis; and WHEREAS, Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) is recognized as a national leader in developing effective strategies to combat violent crime and agreed to perform this study; and WHEREAS, the cost of the study will be $44,381, of which the cost to Brooklyn Center will be $14,793 to be paid from unencumbered Police Forfeitures Funds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that the City Manager is authorized to execute a joint agreement with PERF to conduct the proposed Violent Crime Reduction Initiative Study for Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center. Mav 14.2007 -Date Mayor ATTEST:_V,~ City Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Dan Ryan and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Tim Willson, Kay Lasman, Mary O'Connor, Dan Ryan, and Mark Yelich; and the following voted against the same: none; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
