HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989 07-11 HCM MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE HOUSING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER IN THE COUNTY OF HENNEPIN AND THE STATE OF MINNESOTA REGULAR SESSION JULY 11, 1989 CITY HALL CALL TO ORDER The Brooklyn Center housing commission met in regular session and was called to order by Chairman Nick Eoloff at 7:30 p.m. ROLL CALL Chairman Nick Eoloff, Commissioners Barb Jensen, Reynold Johnson, Robert Torres, Pamela Frantum, and Neal Nelson. Also present were EDA Coordinator Brad Hoffman and Councilmember Phil Cohen. HOUSING STUDY Chairman Eoloff introduced the Maxfield housing study as the next agenda item. Councilmember Cohen stated it was important that the City act upon the study and not let it collect dust on a shelf. He recommended staff develop an implementation plan /program for the commission to consider. After further discussion, Hoffman reviewed the housing study in greater detail. He listed the strong and the weak points and the recommendations for each of the neighborhoods as described in the plan. Following a general discussion of potential programs, there was a motion by Commissioner Jensen and seconded by Commissioner Torres to acknowledge receipt of the study and to take up the matter in detail at the September 1989 meeting along with an action plan to be developed by the staff. The motion passed unanimously. OTHER BUSINESS Hoffman indicated there would be a joint meeting with the planning commission in August, and Lee Maxfield would be present allowing housing and planning commission members an opportunity to discuss their questions about the study with Lee directly. Hoffman indicated a notice would be sent to the housing commission members with the date and time. There was no other business before the housing commission. ADJOURNMENT There was a motion by Commissioner Jensen and seconded by Commissioner Johnson to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously and the housing commission adjourned at 8:50 p.m. Chairman 7 -11 -89 _1_
