'OF BROOKLYN CENTER ROES COUNTY OF HENNEPIN ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 17 of the City Ordinances of the City of Brooklyn Center is hereby amended in the fol- )owing manner:. Section 17 -111. VACATION LEAVE. 1. Amount.'- Permanent em ployees shall earn vacation 'leave at the rate of [five sixths of one working day] Gary E. Employees using earned vacation leave or sick leave shall be considered to be working for the purpose of accumulating additional sick leave. Workers' Compensa- tion benefits shall be credited against the compensation due employees during sick leave. it Section 17 -115. LEAVES OF ABSENCE 1. Leaves of absence without pay ..may be granted by the City Manager where the best interests of the City will not be harmed. Such leaves shall not exceed periods of ninety calendar= days unless based on disability or other good reasons. Vacation and sick leave benefits shall not ac- crue during periods of leaves of absence without pay. If the leave of absence is granted for medical reasons, the City Manager may authorize the continuance of the City's monthly contribution for the employee's health, dental, and basic life insurance premiums during the leave of absence. 2. Employees are obligated to return to work on the first day following the period of ap- proved leave unless prior ap- proval.for an extension of the leave has been granted by the City Manager. 3. Employees on leave must keep their immediate super- visor informed of any change in their current address. '[2.) 4. Employees summoned for jury duty or subpoenaed to testify in .court on behalf of the Employer or for :reasons, growing out of City employ- ment shall receive an amount of compensation which will equal .the.: difference between the employee's regular pay and jury duty or witness fee compensation received. Section 2. This ordinance shall become effective after adoption and upon thirty (30) days following its legal publication. Adopted this day of 1987.
