HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-134 CCRMember Kathleen Carmody introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2005-134 RESOLUTION SETTING THE DATES FOR TRUTH IN TAXATION PUBLIC HEARINGS AND ADOPTION OF THE GENERAL FUND BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2006 WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center may be required by State Statute to hold public hearings on the amount of the property tax levy proposed for collection in 2006; and WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center is required by City Charter and State Statute to adopt the budget for the ensuing fiscal year at a public meeting. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that the following meeting dates for City Council be set: 1. If required, an initial Truth in Taxation Public Hearing will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2005, to receive public comment on the proposed property tax levy and proposed budget for the 2006 fiscal year. 2. A continuation of the Truth in Taxation Public Hearing will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2005, to receive public comment on the proposed property tax levy and proposed budget for the 2006 fiscal year if the initial public hearing was not of sufficient duration to receive all comments. 3. A regular City Council meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2005, at which time the City Council will hold a public hearing on and adopt the final property tax levy and operating budgets for the 2006 fiscal year. September 12. 2005 to Mayor W ATTEST: 4W/zz42tVt City Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Kay Lasman and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof Myrna Kragness, Kathleen Carmody, Kay Lasman, and Diane Niesen; and the following voted against the same: Mary O'Connor; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
