HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-136 CCRMember Kathleen Carmody introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2005-136 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ATTENDANCE AT NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES 2005 CONGRESS OF CITIES AND EXPOSITION WHEREAS, the City Council has budgeted funds for Council Member attendance at training opportunities; and WHEREAS, under the Council's informal policy a Council Member would not be eligible to attend a national training institute in two consecutive years; and WHEREAS, the City Council is considering a change in policy to allow a City Council Member to attend consecutive years of national training opportunities provided the Council Member does not attend more than two national training opportunities in a four year Council Term; and WHEREAS, Councilmember Diane Niesen has indicated an interest in attending the 2005 National League of Cities Congress of Cities and Exposition; and WHEREAS, no other Council Member plans to attend a national training opportunity in 2005; and WHEREAS, under the proposed policy Councilmember Niesen's attendance at the 2005 National League of Cities Congress of Cities and Exposition would be consistent with the proposed policy, though it would have not been contemplated under the current informal City Council Policy. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that Councilmember Diane Niesen be and hereby is approved for City payment of the expenses associated with attendance at the National League of Cities 2005 Congress of Cities and Exposition.
