HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-071 CCRMember Kay Lasman introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2005-71 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID AND AWARDING A CONTRACT, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NOS. 2005-01, 02, 03, AND 04, LIONS PARK SOUTH AREA NEIGHBORHOOD STREET, STORM DRAINAGE, AND UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for Improvement Project Nos. 2005-01, 02, 03, and 04, bids were received, opened, and tabulated by the City Clerk and Engineer on the 19th day of April, 2005. Northdale Construction Co. $ 2,565,408.58 $ 2,643,686.89 $ 2,835,717.39 $ 2,902,743.71 $ 3,108,749.95 $ 3,221,879.06 $ 3,267,757.13 Corrected Total $ 3,231,874.76 WHEREAS, bid documents for Improvement Project Nos. 2005-01, 02, 03, and 04, included alternate bid items listed under Schedule B for potential construction of improvements to Lilac Drive and Fremont Avenue as shown on the project plans. Said alternate bids were as follows: Bidder Alter Arcon Construction Co. S.J. Louis Construction Three Rivers Construction S.R. Weidema, Inc. Barbarossa and Sons, Inc. Northwest Asphalt, Inc. Northdale Construction Co. hate Bid Amount as Submitted Corrected Total $ 48,179.11 $ 50,965.80 $ 57,510.31 $ 57,517.71 $ 60,861.90 $ 57,330.20 $ 60,581.54 $ 60,580.64 $ 65,053.97 WHEREAS, due to schedule delays by the applicant of said improvements included in the alternate bids listed in Schedule B of the bid documents, the City must decline the award of alternate bid items as part the construction contract; and RESOLUTION NO. 2005-71 WHEREAS, it appears that Arcon Construction Company, Inc. is the lowest responsible bidder as determined by consideration of base bid items only. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that: 1. The Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Arcon Construction Company, Inc. of Harris, Minnesota in the name of the City of Brooklyn Center, for Improvement Project Nos. 2005-01, 02, 03, and 04, according to the plans and specifications therefore approved by the City Council and on file in the office of the City Engineer. 2.
