HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981-21 11-09 CCO CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER ORDINANCE NO 81 21 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 35 REGARDING MINIMUM PARKING SPACES REQUIRED THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 35 of the City Ordinances is hereby amended by the addition of the following: Section 35 704. MINIMUM PARKING SPACES REQUIRED. 2. Commerce (Retail and Service /Office) (c) Other retail stares or centers.. Eleven spaces for the first 1000 square feet of gross floor area or fraction thereof; eight spaces for each 1000 square feet of gross floor area in excess of 1000 square feet, but not exceeding 15,000 square feet; six spaces for each 1000 square feet of gross floor area in excess of 15,000 square feet, but not exceeding 30,000 square feet; 5.5 spaces for each 1,000 square feet of gross floor area exceeding 30,000 square feet. In multi- tenant retail centers, no additional parking spaces beyond those required by the retail formula shall be required of restaurant uses which altogether occupy not more than 10% of the gross floor area of the center. The parking formula for eating and drinking establishments shall apply proportionately to the seats and employees occupying space in the center over and above 10% of the gross floor area. Section 35 720. JOINT PARKING FACILITIES. With respect to development complexes, the required parking facilities to serve two or more uses may be located on the same lot or in the same structure, provided that the total number of parking spaces furnished shall not be less than the sum of the separate re- quirements for each use. (See Section 35 -704:2 ('c) regarding restaurant uses in multi- tenant retail centers.) Section 2. This ordinance shall become effective after adoption and upon thirty (30) days fallowing its legal publication.
