HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-029 CCRMember Kay Lasman introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. ~rj05-2Q RESOLUTION APPROVING METRO TRANSIT AUTHORITY REQUEST FOR A VARIANCE FROM STATE FIRE CODE AND LOCATION OF FUEL TANK ENCLOSURE 1 WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center has received a request from the Metro Transit Authority (MTC) to locate a fuel tank enclosure on the front side of the building at 6845 Shingle Parkway; and WHEREAS, the State Fire Marshall has requested City approval of a variance from the State Fire Code by allowing two 24,000 gallon above ground fuel storage tanks as opposed to the State required four 12,000 gallon above ground fuel storage tanks; and WHEREAS, the MTC has assured the City of Brooklyn Center that all other locations for the above ground tank is cost prohibitive. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that the request of the MTC is hereby approved provided that: 1. The enclosure is fire sprinklered per the requirements of the Brooklyn Center Fire Chief, and 2. The construction and material and color scheme of the enclosure match the existing MTC building at 6845 Shingle Creek Parkway.
