adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2004-140
RESOLUTION EXPRESSING RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION FOR THE
DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE OF OFFICER DARRELL KORTAN
WHEREAS, Officer Kortan was hired as a Police Officer by the City of Brooklyn
Center, Police Department, on November 5, 1979; and
WHEREAS, Officer Kortan has served as a 25 year veteran of the Brooklyn Center
Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Officer Kortan has received numerous commendations for outstanding
police work; and
WHEREAS, Officer Kortan has received numerous letters of thanks from citizens for
assistance that he has rendered; and
WHEREAS, his dedicated public service and civic effort for the betterment of the
community merit gratitude of the citizens of Brooklyn Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center, upon the recommendation of the City Manager, that the dedicated public service of
Officer Darrell Kortan is hereby recognized and appreciated by the City of Brooklyn Center.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Diane Niesen
and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Myrna Kragness, Kathleen Carmody, Kay Lasman, Diane Niesen, and Bob Peppe;
and the following voted against the same: none;
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
