The regular meeting of the Discover The Center Steering Committee was called to order by
Chairperson Bob Peppe at 9:45 in Conference Room B of City Hall.
Members present: Bob Peppe, Rod Snyder, Bernie Gaffney, Mary Welch, & Karen Youngberg.
Members absent Pat Lamel & Raquel Hird.
Due to time constraints Jim Soderberg has resigned from the Discover The
Center Board. His resignation was regretfully accepted.
This will be our organizational meeting. We have been incorporated by the State of
Minnesota as a legal nonprofit organization. Corporate name - Discover The
Center, Corporate Charter Number - 10Captor formed under - 317A,
• Certificate Issued By the State of Minnesota - 5/31/96.
MOTION made by Rod Snyder to send a letter thanking Mike McCauley
and the city for helping us get to the point of being incorporated. Bernie
Gaffney seconded. Motion passed.
MOTION made by Bernie Gaffney to start a checking account at First Bank.
Rod Snyder seconded. Motion passed.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
MOTION made by Bernie Gaffney to elect Karen Youngberg as Secretary of
the Corporation. Rod Synder seconded. Motion passed. Karen said she
would accept the election.
MOTION made by Rod Snyder to elect Karen Youngberg as Treasurer of
the Corporation. Mary Welch seconded. Motion passed. Karen said she
would accept the election.
MOTION made by Bernie Gaffney to keep the Chair and Vice Chair as they
i , are now, with Bob Peppe being Chair and Rod Snyder being Vice Chair.
Karen Youngberg seconded. Discussion followed. Motion passed.

• SELECTION COMMITTEE.
MOTION made by Karen Youngberg to contact Jim Soderberg and Gail
Ebert to see if they will serve on our Selection Committee. Rod Snyder
seconded. Motion passed. Mary Welch said she would contact them. Mary Welch,
, are the Board Members on the Selection Committee.
We would like to have the 2 vacancies filled July 15, if possible.
FRIENDSHIP GAMES
Friendship Games date is Aug. 18th. Brooklyn Park is hosting them this year and that is their
only available day. Time 2 to 5. The next meeting is July 12 at 9am at the Brooklyn Park City
Hall.
Chair, Bob Peppe left the meeting at 10:30. Vice Chair Rob Snyder took over the meeting.

1st place rizes for the 10K Run u to $150. Bernie Gaffne seconded.

MOTION made by Mary Welch to change the title of the Public Relations
committee to the Communications Committee. (This committee is the
former Communications Task Force from the City Task Force.) Karen
Youngberg seconded. Motion Passed.
For Earle Brown Days help is needed at the Fishing Contest. Mary Welch will take the
umbrellas and the cups to the Ice Cream Social and the IOK/2 Mile Run/Walk.
Discussion follow on what to charge. Umbrellas cost $7.24 each - will sell at $9.00.
Cups cost $2.34 - will sell at $4.00.
JUL Y MEETINGS.
We feel that we do need to meet twice a month to get our programs running efficiently.
We will meet on July 17 and July 31 at 9:30am in a conference room in City Hall. Karen will
contact Nancy Gorman to confirm a room.
MOTION made by Rod Snyder to adjourn at 12:45am to reopen on July 17
at 9:30am. Karen Youngberg seconded. Motion Passed.
