HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-09 06-12 CCO CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER ORDINANCE NO. 72 -9 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 35 OF THE CITY ORDINANCES BY THE ADDITION OF SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MULTIPLE DWELLINGS THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Section 35 -410 is amended by the addition of the following: 7. Securitv systems and devices. For the purpose of Providing a reasonable amount of safetv and general welfare for Persons occupvina multiple familv dwellings, an approved security system shall be provided to control access at each multiple familv building hereafter constructed. The security system shall consist of locked building entrances or fover doors, and locked doors leading from hallways into individual dwelling units. Dead -latch type door locks shall be provided with lever knobs (or door knobs) on the inside of building entrance doors and with kev cvlinders on the outside of building entrance doors. Buil_dina entrance door latches shall • be of a tvoe that are permanently locked from the outside and permanently unlocked from the inside. Every door that is designed to provide ingress or egress for a dwelling unit wit - .bin a mizltipl.e family building shall be equipped with an approved lock that has a dead - locking bolt that cannot be retracted btr end pressure; provided however, that such doors shall be openable from the inside without the use of a kev or anv special knowledge or effort. Section 2: This ordinance shall become effective after adoption and on July 1, 1972.
