HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-049 CCRMember Kathleen Carmody introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2003-49 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ISSUANCE OF A LAWFUL GAMBLING LICENSE TO THE BROOKLYN CENTER FIRE DEPT RELIEF ASSOCIATION TO OPERATE A PULL-TAB MACHINE (S) AT THE DUOOS BROS AMERICAN LEGION POST 630 WHEREAS, the Minnesota Charitable Gambling Control Board requires a municipality to submit a resolution authorizing issuance of any lawful gambling license within its borders; and WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center allows for such conduct on premises within the City of Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, the Brooklyn Center Fire Dept Relief Association has submitted all appropriate and necessary documentation for the license and a background investigation has been conducted by the Brooklyn Center Police Department regarding the manager and all named officers and nothing was found in that investigation that would preclude the issuance of a Minnesota Lawful Gambling License; and WHEREAS, the Brooklyn Center Fire Dept Relief Association has held and currently holds such a license within the City of Brooklyn Center and there has been no illegal activity with regards to the gambling activities at that location; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, upon the recommendation of the City Manager, that the issuance of a lawful gambling license [for pull tab machine(s)] to the Brooklyn Center Fire Dept Relief Association to operate at the Duoos Bros American Legion Post 630 is hereby approved pursuant to this resolution and Resolution No. 2003-04 is hereby superceded. City Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Kay Lasman and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Myrna Kragness, Kathleen Carmody, Kay Lasman, and Bob Peppe; and the following voted against the same: none; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
