Home My WebLink About2002-170 CCRMember Kay Lasman introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2002-170 RESOLUTION ADOPTING 2003 RECYCLING RATES WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center is a member of the Hennepin Recycling Group (HRG), which is a joint powers group organized pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 471.59 (1987); and WHEREAS, the purpose of the joint powers agreement is to create an organization by which member cities may jointly and cooperatively provide for the efficient and economical collection, recycling and disposal of solid waste within and without their respective corporate boundaries in compliance with the Minnesota Waste Management Act, Minnesota Statutes Chapter 115A (1987); and WHEREAS, the HRG has established a curbside recycling program for its member cities to meet the requirements of Hennepin County Ordinance No. 13, Solid Waste Source Separation for Hennepin County; and WHEREAS, Brooklyn Center Ordinance No. 89-11 authorizes the City to establish rates for recycling services; and WHEREAS, the HRG has established a rate of $2.15 per month per household for recycling services on or after January 1, 2003; and WHEREAS, the rates for recycling services established by the HRG reflect the amount necessary to fund the City's curbside recycling program after projected reimbursement of recycling program costs from Hennepin County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that: the recycling rates identified above as established by the HRG are hereby approved and shall be effective for all billings issued on or after January 1, 2003.
