HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-21 10-13 CCO AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN THE SALARIES PAID TO THE MAYOR AND TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BROOKLYN C VOTER APXFROV�AL THEREOF) CENTER (SUBJECT TO .� WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 412.181 authorizes the council to increase the salaries of the mayor and trustees in villages with approval of the voters; AND WHEREAS, the council deems the present salary of the mayor and trustees inadequate to compensate them for the work incident to these offices and to attract qualified candidates to run for such offices; THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF BROOKLYN CENTER ORDAINS: 1« Commencing January 2, 1960, the salary of the mayor is fixed at $1800. per year and the salary of each trustee is fixed at $1560, per year. 2. This ordinance shall be submitted to the voters of the village at the regular election on December 8 1959, and shall not become effective unless and until it is approved by a majority of those voting upon the question as provided by law, nor in any event before the date specified in Section 1.
