adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2001-188
RESOLUTION AMENDING THE 2002 RECREATION ADMINISTRATION
BUDGET TO CARRY FORWARD AN UNEXPENDED APPROPRIATION
FROM THE 2001 RECREATION ADMINISTRATION BUDGET
WHEREAS, Section 7.08 of the City Charter provides the City Council with the authority to
appropriate funds from the accumulated surplus in an amount equal to a previous appropriation in the
General Fund Budget, if not in fact expended or encumbered for that purpose in the previous fiscal
year; and
WHEREAS, the 2001 General Fund Budget included an allocation of $5,775 for the
purchase of software and hardware for tracking and managing memberships at the Community
Center; and
WHEREAS, the Community Center will be closed from December 3, 2001 until
approximately April 1, 2002; and
WHEREAS, the City's Information Technology Coordinator has recommended that the
purchase of this software/hardware be delayed until early next year to take advantage of technology
improvements and potential cost reductions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn
Center, Minnesota that:
1. The 2001 General Fund Budget is amended to reduce the Recreation
Administration Division appropriation by $5,775.
2. The 2002 General Fund Budget is amended to increase the Recreation
Administration Division appropriation by $5,775.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Bob Peppe
and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Myrna Kragness, Kay Lasman, Ed Nelson, Bob Peppe, and Tim Ricker;
and the following voted against the same: none;
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
