HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-190 CCRMember Tim Ricker introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2001-190 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MODIFY LABOR AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER AND INTERNATIONAL UNION OF OPERATING ENGINEERS, LOCAL NO. 49, FOR THE YEAR 2002 WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center entered into a three year Labor Agreement with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 49, for the period 2000, 2001, and 2002; and WHEREAS, the agreement was amended on November 13, 2000, to include language that provided for re-opening of the agreement for wage and insurance provisions; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and Assistant City Manager met with Union representatives to discuss the wage and insurance provisions for the year 2002, which shall include the additional cost to Local No. 49 employees of increased state retirement pension contributions and increased health benefit costs; and WHEREAS, the Union representatives concurred with the City Manager's proposal to address these additional costs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn. Center that the City Manager is authorized to modify the Labor Agreement with International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 49, to increase the wage schedule in Article 28 by.35 percent in each classification and to insert a City contribution of $485 per month for use in the Employer's Cafeteria Benefit Plan in place of the $470 per month contribution set forth in Section 25.3. December 10, 2001 `lam Date Q Mayor ATTEST: City Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Ed Nelson and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Myrna Kragness, Kay Lasman, Ed Nelson, Bob Peppe, and Tim Ricker; and the following voted against the same: none; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
