HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-12 09-05 CCO S AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 17 OF THE VILLAGE ORDINANCES TO EXPAND THE COVERAGE THEREOF AND TO PROVIDE FOR RETIREMENT OF VILLAGE EMPLOYEES AT AGE 65 THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF BROOKLYN CENTER ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 17 -103 of the Village ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 17 -103. POSITIONS COVERED BY THIS ORDINANCE. All offices and positions in the municipal employ, now existing or hereafter created shall be subject to the provisions of this ordinance, except that: 1. The following offices and positions shall be wholly exempt from the provisions of this ordinance: a. Officials elected by the people b. Members of boards and commissions c. The Village Engineer, Village Administrative Officer, Village Attorney, Liquor Store Manager, and Fire . Department members; provided, however, that the provisions of Sections 17 -116, 17 -117, and 17 -118 shall apply to the positions of Village Administrative Officer, Village Engineer, and Liquor Store Manager. Section 2. New Section 17 -129 is hereby adopted and old Section 17 -129 and subsequent sections renumbered accordingly. Said new Section 17 -129 to read as follows: Section 17 -129. RETIREMENT. All officers and employees subject to provisions of this ordinance shall be automatically retired from municipal service upon reaching sixty -five (65) years of age; provided, however, that the Village Council may by resolution extend the employment of any officer or employee beyond the age of sixty -five (65) if in its judgment the public welfare will be served by such continued employment. Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its legal publication. Passed by the Village Council this 5th day of September 1961. (Seal) ` 1VIa r Clerk
