HomeMy WebLinkAbout1988 09-14 HRRMMINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS AND RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER IN THE COUNTY OF HENNEPIN AND THE STATE OF MINNESOTA REGULAR SESSION SEPTEMBER 14, 1988 CITY HALL CALL TO ORDER The Brooklyn Center human rights and resources commission met in regular session and was called to order by Commissioner Larsen at 7:42 p.m. ROLL CALL Commissioners Eckman, Seburg, Sullivan, and Larsen. Also present was Recording Secretary Geralyn Barone. Chairperson Kuhar and Commissioners Stoderl and Eckman were excused from this evening's meeting. Councilmember Lhotka was absent from the meeting. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - MAY 11, 1988 There was a motion by Commissioner Eckman and seconded by Commissioner Sullivan to approve the minutes of the May 11, 1988, meeting as submitted. The motion passed. TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE REPORT - TARGET GROUP Commissioner Eckman reported she is still in the process of collecting information with Commissioner McCumber, and a full report should be available at the next meeting. She noted there are 338 families using Section 8 housing in Brooklyn Center. TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE REPORT - ASSESSMENT OF FIVE CITIES, SENIOR TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM Commissioner Sullivan reviewed the information he had on the Five Cities Senior Transportation Program and suggested each of the other commissioners receive copies of this additional information. Commissioner Larsen said she had several unanswered questions about the specifics of the program. Commissioners Sullivan and Larsen recommended that someone who knows more about the details of the program attend the next commission meeting. Barone said she will attempt to have someone from the Senior Transportation Program at the next commission meeting. There was discussion by the commission of the Senior Transportation Program and alternatives to it. OTHER BUSINESS Commissioner Larsen reviewed the report from and her participation in the forum sponsered by the Metropolitan Council entitled Families: Kith, Kin and Community. ADJOURNMENT There was a motion by Commissioner Larsen and seconded by Commissioner Eckman to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed.
