THE CHEMICAL PEOPLE/MINNESOTA
Commissioner Rabine reviewed the Chemical People/Minnesota information and proposed
program. She stated that the program is seeking an organization to sponsor the
event in Brooklyn Center and noted several community people indicated an interest
but no one had time to chair the committee.
The Commission discussed its past involvement in chemical dependency programs
including the seminar held by the Human Rights Commission and also the directory
prepared by the Commission. Commission members noted that the apparent problem
with the seminar is that it was a successful instructional meeting but that no
follow-up occurred after the initial session. The Commission generally supported
the concept of the Chemical People program but noted that they did not feel they
were able to chair the project. After additional discussion the Commission generally
agreed that it might be more appropriate for the school district to provide the
leadership in the program.
The Commission continued to discuss the Chemical People program and expressed a
9 willingness to assist any task force organized to deal with the chemical abuse
problem. A motion was made by Commissioner Trautwein and seconded by Commissioner
