CONTINUATION TRUTH IN TAXATION BUDGET HEARING
DECEMBER 11, 2000

CALL TO ORDER
The Brooklyn Center City Council met for the Continuation Truth in Taxation Budget Hearing and
was called to order by Mayor Myrna Kragness at 6:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Mayor Myrna Kragness, Councilmembers Debra Hilstrom, Kay Lasman, Ed Nelson, and Robert
Peppe. Also present: City Manager Michael J. McCauley, Assistant City Manager Jane Chambers,
Finance Director Charlie Hansen, and Deputy City Clerk Maria Rosenbaum.
City Manager Michael McCauley explained the purpose of this meeting was to continue the Truth in
Taxation public hearing that is required by State Law. This hearing is a continuation of the hearing
that began on December 4, 2000. The subsequent hearing, which is also required by State Law, will
be held during the City Council Regular Session.
Mr. McCauley discussed the 3.95 percent or $319,964 increase in taxes and the purpose of increase
in revenues which are as follows: Destination Park Plan, personnel costs, fuel prices, continuation of
neighborhood street projects, and general operations.
A motion by Councilmember Nelson, seconded by Councilmember Peppe to re -open the Public
Hearing. Motion passed unanimously.
No one wished to address the Council.
A motion by Councilmember Hilstrom, seconded by Councilmember Lasman to close the Public
Hearing. Motion passed unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion by Councilmember Hilstrom, seconded by Councilmember Peppe to adj ourn the meeting
at 6:16 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.
