FEBRUARY 26, 2001

CALL TO ORDER STUDY SESSION
The Brooklyn Center City Council met in study session and was called to order by Mayor Myrna
Kragness at 6:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Mayor Myrna Kragness, Councilmembers Kay Lasman and Ed Nelson. Councilmember Bob Peppe
was absent and excused. Also Present: City Manager Michael J. McCauley, Assistant City Manager
Jane Chambers, and Deputy City Clerk Maria Rosenbaum.
CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS AND QUESTIONS
Council discussed City Council agenda items 9c, 9e, and Economic Development Authority item
4a. It was the consensus of the Council that agenda item 9e, Metropolitan Council Request to
Place 10 Units in Brooklyn Center, would be continued to a meeting in April since
Councilmember Peppe was not present to discuss the issue and to allow more information to be
provided to the Council.
LEGISLATION OF TRANSIT HUB FUNDING
City Manager Michael McCauley discussed that Representative Hilstrom is working to see if
funding can be included in the bonding bill for a Brooklyn Center Transit Hub so that money
would be available to implement plans that may be developed in the Smart Growth Study. She
would like support from the City Council for her initiative. It was the consensus of the Council
to provide any support needed.
DRAFT CITY COUNCIL RETREAT REPORT
Council discussed the draft City Council Retreat Report. This report will be on the March 26,
2001, agenda for acceptance by City Council.

CONCEPT PLANS FOR THE CIVIC CENTER PROJECT
Mr. McCauley discussed that the costs are being researched and outlined the conceptual plans at
this point in the planning stages for the Civic Center project.
MISCELLANEOUS
There were no miscellaneous items discussed.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion by Councilmember Nelson, seconded by Councilmember Lasman to adjourn the study
session at 6:44 p.m.
