HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978 06-09 MEMORANDUM TO: Chairman and Members of Northwest Neighborhood Advisory Group FROM: Blair Tremere, Director of Planning and Inspe ction ./ SUBJECT: Rezoning Hearing on Application No. 78032 DATE: June 9, 1978 The Planning Commission, on Thursday, June 15, 1978, will conduct the initial public hearing on a rezoning petition submitted by Mr. Robert Johnson on behalf of himself and on behalf of another party who are owners of the land which is immediately north of the Creek Villas townhouse on the west side of Brooklyn Boulevard. The south property line of the subject land is on the south side of the Creek and is the north boundary of the townhouse neighborhood. The north boundary of the subject land is the municipal boundary with Brooklyn Park. The land consists of approximately 4.9 acres and is currently zoned R -3 (Townhouse - Garden Apartments). The applicant is proposing rezoning to C -2 (General Commerce /Retail) to permit construction of a proposed restaurant and eventually an office building. This can be viewed as a major zoning request since the commercial zoning needed for restaurants, C -2 is not consistent with the Comprehensive Plan. The Planning Commission meeting starts at 8:00 p.m. and is in the City Hall Council Chambers. You may want to attend this meeting to gather information from the hearing firsthand. You will subsequently receive related informational materials, including the minutes of this hearing, when the Planning Commission refers the matter to your group for review and comment. i . r 71 fo Na • 7 8 0, y r, y I t `" 1 I 1 K a - - /-PARK
