HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969 09-24 Resume of NE Neighborhood Study Comm. minute for 9/24/69 A review was made of the 1961 Flan Recommendations as follows: Items 1 & 2 are still applicable. Item 3 - a typigraphic error, instead of 63rd it should be 65th as a collector street.. Item 4 - re; the 12 acre site at SE corner of 69th & Humboldt. It was thought that a shopping center here would be similar to Northbrook in size and that it would prove economically unsound because of the other easily accessable shopping centers at Brookdale and Osseo Road. It was felt that Northbrook had little to offer and that Country Club and the Mill Store were keeping it alive. However, it was felt that there was a need for a store similar to the one on 73rd & Lyndale. Tabled. Items 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10 are underway, been completed, or are still applicable. Item 11 - it was questioned that Lyndale would be widened for many years, but that, for the present nothing could be lost by leaving it in the plan. Item 12 & 13 are still applicable. Item 14 - This was thought to be very long range and subject to a number of problems and very questionable; however, nothing would be hurt by leaving it alone. Item 15 - allready completed. Item 16 - discussion held on walkways. It was felt that serious consideration should be given to developing walkways on all State Aid streets. Tabled. U" The R-2 area from 70th to 71st on Humboldt was discussed. Also the cutting thru of Irving and 70th. Now underway. Resume of minutes for 1012/69 The 12 acre site SE of 69th & Humboldt discussed and decided to recommend that the zoning be changed or be considered for change; John Thompson's corner on Lyndale & 73rd was discussed as a buffer area between the residential and the commercial already in and likely to go in on Brroklyn Park's side. It was felt that this area should be developed along the same line, and possibly at the same time as the large-R-4 area on the west side of Lyndale. i
