From Complaint to Compliance..__.... ... _
One of the city's goals is to achieve voluntary, long -term compliance with community standards for property maintenance, everything
from minor annoyances to major health and safety hazards. Property owners, tenants and business operators are educated about these
standards through presentations, consultations and city publications. Many neighbors successfully work with each other to resolve
neighborhood concerns. Good communication creates healthy neighborhoods. The Community Mediation Services is available to
residents free of charge to help resolve disputes. In some cases, however, residents may contact the city for assistance. The following
information outlines the legal process, time frames and what to expect when a complaint is reported to the City.
1. To Register a Complaint. You may make a complaint by telephone at (763) 503 -3173, online through the eCitizen Center at
, or in person at City Hall. In cases involving property, the complainant's identity is confidential unless
it is required for prosecution, in accordance with Minnesota State Law.
2. Inspection & Notification. After receiving a complaint, a Code Enforcement Inspector inspects the property promptly, and in
accordance with privacy and property rights. The inspection is conducted from a public right -of -way, or from the complainant's
property (with permission). If a complaint is substantiated, a compliance notice is issued to the property owner /tenant in the form
of a verbal warning, door tag, or letter. The owner and /or tenant of the property is informed of the code requirement(s), advised of
the actions required to correct the violation(s), and given a reasonable time frame to make the corrections.
3. Compliance. Depending on the type of violations, the property owner and /or tenant generally has one to ten days to bring their
property into compliance. Health or life safety issues result in less time for correction and major housing issues or weather -
dependent items may result in longer times for correction. Where extenuating circumstances exist, city staff work with residents on
compliance schedules or provide referrals to other resources. Failure to correct violations may result in fines or criminal charges.
The City may arrange for corrections of certain code violations and charge the costs back to the property. Le. Unsecured vacant
property, garbage, or long grass /weeds over 8 inches
If you receive a notice from the city, please do not ignore it. If you have questions or are working to correct the issue, please call the city
employee listed on the notice.

GYMNASTICS PROGRAM
The Brooklyn Center Gymnastics Program has been developed using a skill progression of classes designed to
provide participants a safe, comfortable advancement in gymnastics. Most students participate in a class 2 -3 times
before progressing to the next level. Children's classes, including gymnastics, are conducted more smoothly when
not being observed by parents. Children, as well as adults, need to spend time interacting with their peers in a
recreation setting. Parents are welcome to attend the last 15 minutes of the last day of class for a short
demonstration. If you have questions about where to place your child, call Sue at 763 -569 -3406. Classes are held in
