Adopt -A- Park /Trail /Street program volunteers recognized
The Adopt- A- Park/Trail /Street program plays an important role in helping maintain City parks, trails, public grounds, and
streets. Established in 1992, the program is supported by the efforts of 31 groups and several individuals. The volunteer groups
and individuals represent a cross - section of the community, including service organizations, employee groups, schools, scouts,
churches, and neighborhood groups. The organizations are recognized by signs at their adopted facilities. Each year volunteers
collect about 5,000 pounds of trash. With the help of this program, our parks, trails, and streets are cleaner and more inviting.

Adopt -A- Garden program volunteers recognized
In past years we had volunteers plant flower gardens in some parks. Last year we expanded the program for volunteers to help
out the City. Volunteers planted flowers at the Arboretum, City Hall Entrance, City Hall Plaza, Evergreen Park, Freeway Park,
Orchard Park, South Palmer Park, Water Tower, and Brooklyn Boulevard Nodes. The City Council thanks the following

Volunteer opportunities on City advisory commissions
Financial Commission
The Brooklyn Center Financial Commission is seeking several members. The position is voluntary for a term of three years. To
qualify for membership, you must be a Brooklyn Center resident while serving on the Commission and have an interest in the
financial operations of the City. The general purpose of the Commission is to act in an advisory capacity to the City Council on
issues related to finance. The Financial Commission meets at City Hall several times a year, as well as in joint session with the City
Council during the budget planning process. Final appointment will be made by the Mayor and City Council.
Housing Commission
The Brooklyn Center Housing Commission is seeking members to fill a vacancy. The position is voluntary for a term of three years.
To qualify for membership, you must be a Brooklyn Center resident while serving on the Commission, shall have been a resident for
at least one year prior to the appointment, and represent a broad range of interest in the housing function. The general purpose of the
Commission is to afford citizen input in the development of a housing program to supplement the activities of the City Council. The
Housing Commission generally meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 PM. Final appointment will be made by the Mayor
and City Council.

Yard waste site opens April 1
The Maple Grove Yard Waste Site opens for the season on April 1st. Residents can drop off leaves, grass, brush, and tree
branches up to 10 inches in diameter at no charge at the gate. The site is funded through your recycling utility fees.
Hours are Monday through Saturday 8 AM to 7 PM and Sunday Noon to 7 PM. The address of the site is 14796 101st Ave. N.,

Maple Grove, New Hope, Plymouth, Robbinsdale & REACH for Resources. For persons not living in one of the cities listed above,
you are considered a "non- resident" and need to add $5 to registration fee. Participants must pre - register. REACH is an agency
serving individuals with developmental disabilities and their families in the West & Northwest Hennepin areas. Services include
information, referral, advocacy, and counseling. Programs include social/recreation clubs and education programs. An integration
