MINUTES OF A JOINT MEETING OF THE BROOKLYN CENTER CITY COUNCIL
AND BROOKLYN CENTER SCHOOL DISTRICT #286 SCHOOL BOARD
7:30 P.M. JANUARY 30, 1989
CITY HALL
Mayor Nyquist called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. in the
Brooklyn Center city council chambers. Members present:
Brooklyn Center City Council - Mayor Nyquist, Councilmembers
Lhotka, Scott, Paulson, and Pedlar. School board members present
- Vice Chair Tom Sollberger, Jody Brandvold, Walter Bursch,
Robert Spies and Dr. David Kaliher. Others present:
Superintendent Rossi, Administrative Assistant Stave, City
Manager Splinter, City Assessor Koole, and EDA Coordinator
Hoffman.
General discussion of the following items with no action
occurred
analysis of 1989 property tax impact by City
Assessor Koole;
review of the status of the Earle Brown Farm
development by EDA Coordinator Hoffman and
Manager Splinter;
description of development and redevelopment
projects which will be occurring in 1989 by
Manager Splinter; and
review of state, county, and city highway and
road construction projects.
Superintendent Rossi reviewed the status and impact of the school
open enrollment program, joint discussion on city /school athletic
facility use with some description of the ongoing communication
on the use of baseball facilities, a review of potential site
locations for Earle Brown Days activities, including the high
school property. School board member Brandvold reviewed the drug
abuse and prevention program in the schools and the activity of
the drug awareness task force. Adjournment occurred at 9:50 p.m.
